Usually, most of us love to send text messages to our close ones to inform them. The text messages sent via SMS, Messaging, or allied app let them know about you without being online. Sometimes, it happens that the text messages you send do not get delivered to your known ones. And you see notifications like Message Blocking is Active, Unable to Send Message, or Free MSG on your Android mobile phone or iPhone. 

Such an issue generally occurs when you block someone and stop him/her from sending/calling you by going into your Contact Settings. Another cause could be network problems on your smartphone. Here are some highly effective and useful steps to fix it:

Check the contact number of the recipient 

Your iPhone or Android smartphone fails to send your text messages when you make any errors in typing the mobile number of the recipient or country code. So, you must verify the number you have typed before sending your text messages to him/her. 

Check the block list on your Android mobile or iPhone

It is possible that you would have blocked a contact number in the past. To know whether the number of people to whom you are sending the text message is blocked or not, you need to check the list of blocked contacts.

On Android, you need to:

  • Go to the Phone application on your Android phone to open it.
  • Choose Settings after clicking on the three dot menu. 
  • Tap on the option, Blocked Numbers.
  • Click on X to unblock a contact number if it is blocked.

On your iPhone, you need to:

  • Go to the Edit option after opening the Phone app and going to Settings > Blocked Numbers. 
  • Click on the minus (-) button, which could be red, next to a contact number you want to unblock.
  • Tap on Unblock and click on Done when you complete the unblocking a number. 

Send a text message again 

It is possible that there would be a network problem on your recipient mobile when you sent the text message for the first time on a particular day. You should try to send a message or the same message again after waiting for a few minutes. 

Examine your cellular carrier plan

You might have missed renewing your carrier plan for calling, texting, internet, or the one for all these. It is probable that you would have finished the quota of sending text messages in a month. You should check your carrier plan by texting to toll free numbers or calling to customer care executives of your mobile service provider. 

Remove the SIM card from your Android mobile or iPhone and insert it again

To fix the issue, you can try removing and re-inserting the SIM card from and to your mobile. It will facilitate you get rid of the issues caused by the improper SIM card placement or network problems. As you insert the SIM card again, try to send a text message to your close ones and wait to know whether the issue is resolved or not.   

Enable the premium SMS access on your Android smartphone

Premium SMS messaging system uses a particular shortcode while sending text messages. Your Android mobile may block you from accessing premium SMS features as these messages are chargeable. You can enable them when you wish to send text messages anyhow to your loved one. The steps to enable the premium SMS access are as follows:  

  • Click on Apps & Notifications after opening the Settings app on your device. 
  • Scroll down the displayed options after tapping on Special app access. 
  • Now, click on Premium SMS Access. 
  • Go to the Messaging app and click on Ask or Always Allow. 

Disable iMessage on your iPhone

On your iPhone, you have the Messages app that lets you send iMessages and regular messages from a single place. Sometimes, it becomes a cause for errors and conflicts. To avoid having this, you can disable iMessages on your Apple smartphone. The steps are as follows:

  • Go to the Settings application on your iPhone and open it. 
  • Make the switch go off after scrolling down the displayed options under Messages. The switch will be next to iMessage. 
  • Send a text message as you finish the above-mentioned steps. 

Restart your Android mobile or iPhone

A quick reboot can help you get rid of texting errors you are facing on your Android smartphone or iphone. 

  • Turn your device off and wait for a few seconds to minutes to turn it on again. 
  • Let your mobile phone get connected to your service provider. 
  • Type a new message or send the same message again.

Disable WiFi calling on your iPhone or Android mobile

Disabling the WiFi calling feature on your smartphone may help you get rid of texting issues. To disable it on your Android phone or iPhone, you need to:

  • Click on the Settings app to open it. 
  • Go to network settings or SIM settings. 
  • Click on the option, WiFi Calling. 
  • Toggle the switch to the left to turn it off. 

Enable Automatic Date and Time on your phone

Some mobile devices do not work properly when they are set to an incorrect date and time. You need to verify the date and time and make it get updated automatically. For this on Android phone, the steps are as follows:

  • Go to Date and Time after opening the Settings app and scrolling down to the System option. 
  • Toggle the switch to the right. The switch is next to Use Network Provided time. 

For iPhone, you need to:

  • Go to General after launching the Settings app on your iPhone. 
  • Toggle the switch to the right after tapping on Date & Time. The switch will be located next to Set Automatically.  

Update the carrier settings on your smartphone

Outdated carrier settings may be a reason behind the Message Blocking is active on your smartphone. Try updating the carrier setting on your device. 

For Android

  • Go to the Network & Internet option after opening the Settings app on your phone. 
  • Click on the Setting version following the Mobile Network. Your phone will get updated with new carrier updates. 
  • Install the updates as you get. 

For iPhone

  • Go to Settings > General > About. 
  • Click on Update as you see a pop-up message. 
  • Install the updates by following the on-screen instructions.
